Drake Middle School
Jefferson County
Colorado

Drake Middle School—950 kids—is the largest middle school in the JeffCo School District, and it is being failed by Jefferson County, Colorado.

  • Over 3,500 residences are not connected to the school by sidewalk.

  • School zones do not meet Colorado state law.

  • Current workaround? Children cross a grassy drainage easement—but owners recently blocked that route.

  • The result? Hundreds of children forced to walk on unsafe streets with NO sidewalk.

Stay Connected

Pave their path.
Protect their future.

Drake Middle School is the only Jeffco public school with an incomplete connection to neighborhood sidewalks. Hundreds of children are dodging cars and jumping ditches where sidewalks should be.  The school, while doing everything they can, is not responsible for or able to construct sidewalks.

Jefferson County must construct a SAFE, reliable route for children to bike/walk to school—NOW.

Unsafe School Zones

The current Drake school zone is only 15% of the required length and does not have the required signage. Drake students deserve modern, safe crosswalks that meet state law.

No Legal Access to School

Students living within 2 miles are not provided buses, and those coming from the west are forced to walk on streets for multiple blocks without sidewalks. Hundreds of homes are being developed within the 2-mile walking distance, increasing traffic on West 52nd Ave.

Our kids do not have SAFE access to their public middle school. Join us to fix  how our children get to school.

Where is JeffCo's 1A Money?

Fairmount taxpayers approved Initiative 1A in 2024 to ensure safe local infrastructure and better roads for our community—all residents deserve access to safe  sidewalks.
